YOUR WATER WELL IS A VALUABLE ASSET TO YOUR PROPERTY VALUE and just like your home, certain maintenance procedures need to be done to ensure a long lasting return on your investment.
An annual check-up can insure the integrity of your water system and can sometimes locate minor mechanical problems that may be easily repaired before they become more costly system breakdowns. The check-up should include a water sample to assure that the system remains free of bacterial contamination. Joseph H. Huemann & Sons Well Drilling, Pump Sales and Service or your licensed water well drilling company will know how often your system should be serviced and to what extent that service should be. Here is what will be inspected on a regular basis:
GROUNDWATER WELL OWNER ANNUAL CHECKLIST
- Always use licensed or certified water well drillers and pump installers when a well is constructed, a pump is installed or the system is serviced.
- An annual well maintenance check, including a bacterial test, is recommended. Any source of drinking water should be checked any time there is a change in taste, odor or appearance, or anytime a water supply system is serviced.
- Periodically check the well cover or well cap on top of the casing (well) to ensure it is secured properly and in good repair.
- Always maintain proper separation between your well and buildings, waste systems or chemical storage facilities. Do not build over your well. The well must be serviceable at all times.
- When landscaping, keep the top of your well at least one foot above the ground. Slope the ground away from your well for proper drainage.
- Take care in working or mowing around your well. A damaged casing could jeopardize the sanitary protection of your well. Don't pile snow, leaves, or other materials around your well.
- Keep your well records in a safe place. These include the construction report, as well as annual water well system maintenance and water testing results.
- Be aware of changes in your well, the area around your well, or the water it provides.
- Joseph H. Huemann & Sons Well Drilling, Pump Sales and Service will properly seal and abandon your old well after constructing your new system as required by your state and local health departments.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
NEW NEW NEW!
To demonstrate our ongoing commitment to sustaining your valuable Groundwater system,
we are offering a new preventative maintenance service that will add years to the
life of your system.
We start by analyzing your well system (checking your well cap, gauge, switch and
tank). We confirm that everything is working properly and make recommendations for
anything that is not. We will collect a water sample and have it tested for bacteria.
The water sample results will be available 2-3 days after your inspection and we
will contact you with the results and send you a copy for your files. If your water
sample does not pass we will make recommendations with the necessary steps to correct
it. The Preventative Maintenance Inspection will take approximately one hour to complete and there will be no interruption of your water service. Lastly, we
will provide a comprehensive written report with our findings.
